1. The Importance of a Photo Lab Ordering Option
Post-pandemic, we are re-evaluating a lot of things, one of which is our old ways of working. Having a Photo Lab ordering option has become essential.
PicuturesPro’s Sytist is a flexible and versatile online platform for e-commerce. It made it a very attractive solution for selling digital photos and photo-gifts. It was especially appealing for School’s Photography.
2. Identifying the Need for Lab Integration
However, the one element that this lab owner identified was that of Lab Integration and having the ability to automate the printing process to the minilab, either internally or via a third-party supplier.
3. Creating A New Workflow
IFX was asked if we could help.
Some of the key requirements of the workflow were:
- Processing a single CSV file containing a batch of individual customer orders.
- Automatic print separators with order details, first and last image thumbnails.
- Avoid image downloads and use the local image server in the Lab.
- Create the print product e.g. Simple prints and Package prints.
- Create a lab sheet for each order.
- Make an address label.
4. Upgrading Solutions
We have since introduced BlueUpload. This allows users to upload images automatically to FTP, Amazon S3 bucket etc; clearing the Upload folder of any images already uploaded, to stop it from being reuploaded when the images are moved to their eventual destination gallery.
